Positive Affirmations -- Discover Your True Potential

Positive affirmations work because they activate the power of the subconscious mind. With repetition, the statement is accepted by your mind as true. If your mind believes something to be true, you will be able to achieve it.

Listening to an audio of recorded running affirmations can be more effective that just trying to remember to repeat your affirmations. You can listen to an affirmation recording anytime that is convenient for you: while you are driving, doing chores around the house, when relaxing, during running, before going to bed, etc.

Do You Need Some Headspace?

Are you overwhelmed with worry and stress? Do you have trouble relaxing and sleeping? Research has shown that after only a few days of learning to meditate, brain activity begins to change with decreased stress and improved mood. 

You can now download the free Headspace meditation app (iPhone and Android devices). It includes a free 10-day program to begin meditating for only 10 minutes a day. The program is unique because it takes a simple approach to meditating. It demystifies meditation in an easy-to-learn, fun-to-do way. 

You can repeat the first 10 days as often as you wish or you can choose to purchase more programs for up to 365 days of unique meditations. 

Learn to be an observer of your thoughts!

You may say that you are too busy to meditate this time of year. However, if you invest just 10 minutes each day in your health and well-being, you will be able to enjoy the holidays much more. You will feel more grounded, more energized, and because you will be more aware of your thoughts and how they affect your mood, you will feel happier.

Indian-Style Lentils

This tasty lentil dish is great as a side dish or serve it with rice for a complete vegetarian meal. 

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium sized onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 TBS olive oil
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 1 tsp curry powder
  • Chili flakes (will be hot)
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 can diced tomatoes (14 oz)
  • 2 cups canned or cooked dry lentils (measure ¾ cup uncooked)
  • 1 cup frozen spinach 

Method:

  1. Dice onions and mince garlic. 
  2. Sauté onion in oil for 3 minutes. Add garlic, ginger, curry powder, chili flakes if using, turmeric, salt, tomatoes and lentils.
  3. Simmer covered for 5-7 minutes. Add 1 cup frozen spinach and continue simmering for 2 more minutes.
  4. Serve over brown rice if desired.
