Black toenail on big toe

Hi All, I had several black toenails in the past and always ignored them, but now it's the turn of the big toe. Never happened before and the toe itself is red and swollen but not really painful. Should be more cautious for the big guy and take some days of running? Hate it, will decide within 1-2 hours.
